ARTICLE
1 MEMBERSHIP
Membership
is open to all. A member must be current in payment of dues to
be eligible to vote or compete in any competition sponsored by
the club. Anyone who becomes three months in arrears shall be
dropped from membership.
ARTICLE 2 DUES
The Board of Directors shall determine monthly dues with membership
approval. The dues shall be published in the member handbook.
Annual dues of the club shall be pro-rated quarterly with September being the first month of the year. Family membership shall consist
of two or more persons from the same household.
ARTICLE 3 NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Nominations for officers for the following year shall be made
during the second meeting in May. The election shall be during
the second meeting in June or as determined by a vote of the membership.
New officers shall take office at the next meeting after the election.
ARTICLE 4 BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND DUTIES OF OFFICERS
The Board of Directors shall consist of the following:
President
- shall preside at all regular, special or board meetings of the
club. Shall approve all official club publications and news releases.
Shall appoint committees as needed.
Vice
President - shall preside at meetings of the club in the absence
of the President. If for any reason the office of the president
should be come vacant, the Vice President shall assume that office.
Secretary/Treasurer
- shall record all proceedings, maintain a correspondence file,
maintain a current membership roster, maintain a record of all
receipts and disbursements and give a treasury report at each
meeting. Receipts are required for reimbursement of authorized
expenditures.
Photographic
Society of America (PSA) and Columbia Council of Camera Clubs
(4C's) Representatives - insure that all business relating to
PSA or 4C's is completed in a timely manner. Attend PSA or 4C's
meetings when appropriate.
Competition
Chairpersons - there shall be a Chairperson for each competition
in which the club is involved. Shall maintain records of all competition
events, send and receive photographs for outside competition,
assist in the function of club competition events. Provide verbal
report of activities at monthly meetings and have available a
written report of the whereabouts and details of all competition
photographs in his/her possession each month.
Past
President - Serves as member of the Board of Directors following
his/her term as President.
Newsletter
Editor - Gathers the necessary information and edits it in order
to publish an informative and timely newsletter. Serves as member
of the Board of Directors.
Webmaster – Gathers the necessary information and edits it in order to publish an informative and timely website. Serves as member of the Board of Directors.
ARTICLE 5 COMMITTEES
Appointed by the President as necessary and resonable.
ARTICLE 6 MEETINGS
Meeting time and place shall be decided by majority vote of the
membership.
ARTICLE 7 PUBLICATIONS
The club shall publish a Member Handbook, Competition Guidelines
and a Club Newsletter as deemed necessary and worthwhile by the
membership.
ARTICLE 8 COMPETITION
The club shall hold at least one member competition monthly. The
number of competitions and categories there-in shall be determined
by the members. The Board of Directors may offer special competitions
at its discretion --either as a one-time competition or as an
annual one.
A photo may not be entered more than once a year and may not be
entered again if it places first through third in any previous
competition. The number of entries per competition per member
is at the discretion of the Board of Directors. All other rules
and regulations concerning competition and judging shall be decided
on the by the Board of Directors with the approval of the membership
and shall be published in a Competition Guidelines.
Awards shall be determined by the Board of Directors.
ARTICLE 9 CHANGING THE BYLAWS
Additions, deletions or amendments to the bylaws of the Valley
Viewfinders Camera Club may be made by a majority vote of at least
a quorum of members at a regular meeting or at a special meeting
called for that purpose. The proposed change in the bylaws must
be presented to the membership at least one month in advance of
bringing it to a vote.
ARTICLE 10 QUORUM
A quorum shall consist of at least 30% of those members in good
standing.
